NAVBB helps supply veterinary hospitals across the country with lifesaving blood products for dogs in need while giving priority to local requests.
If you're interested in learning whether your dog is eligible to become a blood donor, we encourage you to contact us. The donation process is performed by experienced veterinary professionals who visit our facility, making it safe, convenient, for both you and your dog.
Donor Requirements
- Between 1 and 7 years of age
- Weigh more than 50 pounds and be at a healthy weight
- Be free of chronic illnesses and not taking long-term medications
- Have had a negative heartworm test within the past year and be on heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives
- Be current on Rabies and DHLPP vaccinations (within the past three years)
- Have never received a blood transfusion
