Blessing of the Animals in Richmond

Manny & alpacaIn memory of St. Francis of Assisi and his love for all animals, there are several upcoming ceremonies for the Blessing of the Animals in the Richmond Area. Dates and locations are below.

St. Francis authored a Canticle for the Creatures, in which he wrote, “All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.” He was a lover of all animals and felt that they have a true place in this world.

As pet owners and pet lovers, we know there is no other relationship like the one we share with our dogs and cats. How many of us depend on our dog or cat to make us feel better after a horrible day at work?

You will enjoy the chance to have your pet blessed on this special day. They will be welcomed with pet prayers, devoted to our furry friends:

“Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.”
